Just another day, exploring another beach. I really like this one - Makapu'u Point. This is the transition point between the leeward and windward sides of the island. I really like the setting of this beach - very dramatic with the mountains looming over you.
A nice place for napping :)

The indigenous Hawaiians also think this point is pretty special. Here resides several of stones where their deities reside. Some are labled - you can see one sign that says 'Ka' - one of their main gods. Leis and other ornamentation and offerings are still made at this holy site.

On the left some of my favorite succulents grow wild on the shore of the beach. Right pictures the two islands we kayaked to a couple of weeks ago, this is the view from Lanikai Beach.
Lanikai beach is great for families. Gentle surf, really smooth sand, and a rather exclusive community of expensive homes line the shore.
